Beránková, Tereza ; Ruller, Ivan (referee) ; Poslušná, Iva (advisor)
The primary aim of my work was to complete the ring road in Brno on the building site by the Main Station near Hotel Grand. For the project was used the competition proposal of RAW – relocate the current bus station, propose a city park in the central part of the building site and propose under this site underground parking. In the north of the site was proposed a polyfunctional building which reacts to the current city objects and also to the new park. It is constituted from two objects with a calm courtyard. The functions in these objects were proposed with the context of the Main station and underground parking and the objects are constituted mainly from rentable areas for temporary accommodation, administration, catering and relaxing and they are intended for visitors and tenants of the complex and for the public. The color proposal of facades refers to the emblem and logo of the city – red and white.

Vostalová, Helena ; Jura, Pavel (referee) ; Poslušná, Iva (advisor)
The project addresses a possible sollution for the area in the center of Brno, defined by streets Benešova, Nádražní, Koliště and Divadelní. A previous study by RAW was used in this thesis, describing transport solution throughout the site, especially quietening of the street Benesova. Urban solution builds on the character of the eastern ring road, where a park intertwines with objects. There is a park with gallery in the southern part of the area, in the north there is a new set of multipurpose objects deriving from the current needs of the city and close proximity to the main train station in Brno, a lot of visitors and workers arrive at every day. Therefore, one of the proposed functions is a form of transitional cheaper accommodation - hostel. As such, there are rentable apartments and office areas along with commercial parterre supplemented with retail stores and catering services for the tenants and users of the proposed buildings as well as the general public.

Tomcová, Barbora ; Jura, Pavel (referee) ; Poslušná, Iva (advisor)
The parcel of land this thesis deals with is defined by the streets Benešova, Nádražní and Koliště and is a part of a ring road located in the centre of Brno very close to the main train station. A big part of the land will be used as a park with a building with a metropolitan importance according to the project of RAW studio. Based on their study dealing with limitation of traffic in Benešova street and underground garages situated under a large part of the land there is a proposal of polyfunctional city block in the northern part. The functional content is based on analyses and connections of the mentioned location. There are three propositions of possible usage of the city block – administrative, living and a hostel – supplemented by a business partner. Brno is a city of students and many of them stay in Brno even after finishing their studies and start there their own businesses. The suggested offices are meant mainly for these young entrepreneurs and managers. The function of low-cost accommodation is included in the plan mainly due to the lack of this kind of accommodation near the main train station.

Immigrants in the Metropolis
Dongresová, Marta ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor) ; Varhaníková, Halka (referee)
Urban spaces have appeared in literature for a long time and they seem to fascinate a lot of contemporary writers. The constructions of cities become exceptionally complex in postcolonial British fiction that portrays urban landscape from the perspective of first and second generation immigrants from Britain's former colonies. All of the novels discussed in this work are set in London and the characters are immigrants of the South Asian and Caribbean diasporas in Britain: the thesis focuses namely on Brick Lane (Monica Ali), White Teeth (Zadie Smith) and Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee (Meera Syal). However, the work also makes short digressions to a number of older works which deal with the immigrant experience in London: The Lonely Londoners (Sam Selvon), The Satanic Verses (Salman Rushdie) and The Buddha of Suburbia (Hanif Kureishi). The entire thesis consists of five parts and begins with an introduction to several theoretical terms that are necessary for analyses of immigrant identities and urban spaces. All of the theory that is discussed in the first chapter is then applied to the chosen novels by Ali, Smith and Syal. Overall, the thesis focuses on the ways in which the ex-colonial subjects in the books perceive London according to their gender and the particular generation of immigrants that...
Project Grand Paris of Nikolas Sarkozy
Filipi, Petra ; Tomalová, Eliška (advisor) ; Emler, David (referee)
Thesis "Project Grand Paris of Nicolas Sarkozy" deals with a plan of the French president to completely rebuild the city of Paris. Grand Paris continues in the legacy of "Grands travaux", architectural projects of previous French presidents such as the Louvre Pyramids or the Pompidou Centre. The main part of the work is focused on Sarkozy's vision of administrative reorganization of the Ile-de-France region which was supposed to create a new central administrative body that would comprise Paris and surrounding suburbs. It tracks the period from the first Sarkozy's speech in June 2007 to his retirement in May 2012. In order to clarify the context of the whole project I will present the history of changes in the Paris administration which has led to Sarkozy's initiative. This work will examine the reasons to start such initiative, suggested methods that would be used to implement desired changes and the impact of the 2008 municipal elections on the future form of Grand Paris. Once the left-wing parties won these elections, Sarkozy abandoned the whole idea of the administrative reorganization of the region and the project continued in a significantly limited form.

The model of village between capital and river. Socio-cultural profile of Týnec nad Sázavou 1918-1938.
LOMOZOVÁ, Eva
The presented thesis deals with the progress of life in the small village of Týnec nad Sázavou in connection with the formation and development of tourist interest in the region of Lower Posázaví. The progress, which was the outcome of local tourism, was reflected in the lifestyle changes made by the rural population. The important elements included new building projects and developmental opportunities in the region of Lower Posázaví, which included the construction of railways, repairing and building of road, electrification, installation of water supply and reconstruction of the state hotel in Týnec nad Sázavou. Included among the summer visitors were important and significant personalities of that period: successful entrepreneurs, scientists, politicians, writers, doctors and artists. One of the main personalities was Frantisek Janecek, who chose this township not only to spend his summer leisure time, but also for his business aims. His intentions had a great positive impact on the life of the population of Týnec nad Sázavou and its surroundings. The reflection of prosperity seen during the period of the first republic in this region remains evident till today.
